Donc, on a décidé d’aller
l’encadre.

on y fucking va
***English translation***
This month saw lots of new experiences, for example I went
ice-skating, I celebrated my birthday, held a surprise party for a friend and
saw lots of very impressive and beautiful parts of the country.
At the start of the month I went ice-skating. I was my first time. It was also the first time that I learned that this sport in particular is quite challenging and something I struggled very much with. If I had to write a list of all of the things I’m not very good at, this would be very close to the top. I went to the ice rink with lots of people and it was good to be there with people who were at least a little more experienced than me. They were able to help me start to get the hang of things, although it didn’t stop them from laughing at me when I failed numerous times. Unfortunately, it took a while before I was able to leave the wall of the ice-rink, that is, before I started to move around without holding on for dear life. By the end I was able to move a few metres without the help of others, although I was still quite awkward and unstable whilst doing this. Despite this minor achievement, it wasn’t without first having fallen over and showing the entire world how inexperienced I was. That fact was highlighted, perhaps embarrassingly so, when there were young children moving along as if it were easy. Despite this, I persisted and left my comfort zone trying to learn a new skill.
The 17th of March is my birthday, now for those who don’t know, it
is also Saint Patrick’s day. Normally this day is not very big in Australia. In
fact, I am not sure that it is very big even in France, but perhaps because it
was a Friday there were lots of people out and about that night.
During the day, I had classes so I decided to go to them. I know, however, some
who decided that they would take Saint Patrick’s Day as an opportunity to spend
the day drunk – even going to some classes a little inebriated. It’s not a
surprise to learn that a large number of these people come from Ireland. To
celebrate my birthday I had dinner with some friends at a small thai restaurant
before going to a bar. One of my friends gave me a small cake that she had
cooked in a jar. There was a small drawing of “me” on the lid (I’ll put a
picture below this paragraph). Leading up to the day I had invited just about everyone
I know to come along, and by the end of the night more than 30 people had
turned up to wish me happy birthday. There were people from all over the world;
some French, Germans, British (English, Irish and Scottish), some Spanish, some
from Canada and of course some Australians. It was truly multi-cultural. At the
end of the night, when I returned home, there was a small piece of paper that
said “happy birthday” in French with a picture of a kangaroo, which was meant
to represent me.

After the visit to Loche we had organised a surprise gathering for the birthday of another friend. I returned to mine to cook a few things for the party (everyone was supposed to bring something). We went to one of the kitchens in my residence where we prepared for the arrival of the birthday girl. She was very surprised by the party and she had a great time. After eating a little we decided to go to town and to a bar for a few hours where we drank some flavoured wine. After which we went to a club for more beer and to dance a little. It was a good night.
The weekend of the 25th and 26th of March I went on holidays with 3 friends. We decided we needed a mascot for our voyage. The mascot was a small pink toy pig, which had been named “gippig”. The name is pig backwards and then forwards “gip-pig”. With him around we decided that, were we to start a band, it would be named "pig-pocket", a play on the term pickpocket due to him spending a lot of time in our pockets when we carried him. On our voyage we went to Saint Malo, as we were inspired by the voyage that was organised by the ESN. This trip only had a limited number of spaces, of which none of us received one. So, we decided to go anyway on our own. We hired a car and began to drive towards our destination, stopping along the way at a very small and very beautiful little town called Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei. It was a lovely surprise to find this town. We explored a little and found a very small chapel in the middle of a meadow, as well as a few other very pretty sights whilst we were there, including a ledge that over looked the river through the town. We stayed there for a few ours and ate lunch before continuing on our way.

We arrived in the evening, a little before the sunset. We
were staying in an Air BnB with a lovely family. There were lots of people
living there, and every time we entered the house we greeted with hugs and
kisses. After dropping off our things we went into Saint Malo. It’s a city
encased in a medieval wall. The walls overlook the ocean, which gave off a very
pretty view. As I previously said, we arrived a little before the sunset, and
so we stayed on the beach for a while and watched as the sun hid itself beneath
the horizon. After that, we went to have dinner with the other group who had
given us the motivation to come. We did not stay out too late, as we were tired
from the voyage.

The following day we went to Mont Saint-Michel, a true monument. It is a village/castle situated in the middle of the ocean. We left early to get there, but it still took a few hours, longer than we had anticipated because we kept stopping to look at sights along the way, and to have lunch. We finally arrived in the afternoon and explored a little before returning back home to Tours.

Since returning to Tours I have spent a bit of time down by la Loire river with
some friends. It is very pretty during the afternoon and evening when the
weather is good.
Finally, last Friday, the 31st of March, my family arrived in Tours. I spent the weekend with them and showed them some parts of Tours. It is very pretty at the moment thanks to Spring. My family and I took a little tour of Tours, which was full of really cool information.
As always, on y
